Hospitality with Heart

The idea for Hospitality with Heart began during a stay at an Airbnb in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was the first time I had experienced a place that encouraged guests to leave behind unopened food and unused items instead of throwing them away.

That moment stuck with me.

I can’t count how many times I’ve packed up to leave a vacation rental and realized I had to throw away perfectly good food because there wasn’t room in the car, we didn’t have a cooler, or it simply couldn’t travel home. And it wasn’t just food. There were always the small things families forget  a pair of kids’ socks, unopened toiletries, shampoo and conditioner, or household items purchased for the stay.

Like many guests, I had always assumed those items had to be thrown away.

But standing there, realizing that so many of those things could have been donated to local food pantries, shelters, or community programs, changed my perspective completely.

Instead of waste, those items could become something meaningful.

When I started building Casa & Craft, I knew this was something I wanted to incorporate. Not just as a service, but as a small way to give back to the communities that welcome travelers into their mountain homes.

Hospitality with Heart is our commitment to collecting unopened food, usable items, and guest-left essentials and redirecting them to local organizations that support families, shelters, and community programs whenever possible.

Because great hospitality doesn’t just care for the guest experience, it also cares for the community around it.
